It may be a bit early but no harm working out the good and auspicious days for March 2010.

2010 is called the metal tiger year and because of ‘tiger’ many may feel somewhat concerned. But have no fear. It is just a terminology.

The good days are the red ones you  see on the calendar. Consider them as general good days which means that they are just about good for any form of daily activities except morbid ones.  However by convention, the days are not suitable for those whose animal sign is shown.

Selection of auspicious days is traditionally done and often when it comes to ‘big’ affairs like marriage, the favorite astrologer is consulted.

For marriage, for example, the couple will carefully scrutinize the days to catch one which is most auspicious. There are many methods and there are many prohibitions. The core objectives are compatibility of the couple, the day should be favorable for the basic human need of fertility and procreation (what a word!), absence of conflict with wealth and health potential, conflict with the parents etc. The list is, as they say, so endless it is surprising that one ever find any suitable day at all. My brother is very good at this and often he has to say that he is unable to get a suitable date within the window the couple wishes to wed.

The easiest but not necessarily the most comprehensive way is to look up the Chinese Almanac. The exhaustive way is to follow the rules as listed, for example, in the ‘Book of Harmony, Records, Analysis and Directionology’. Actually, the purpose of the activity determines the proper day to select. The 10th and 22nd for instance is good for moving in to a new home.

Every school have their methods of selection so it is up to the individual to select one which she is most comfortable.

Happy New Year!

looks like not any day is a good day, that’s why many people pick Chinese month 8 and 10. What is your advise on the month selection if she is a snake and he is a boar?

I guess you are referring to a marriage date. If so, a date cannot be given off hand.
In fact when you mention months 8 and 10, you must be thinking of the chinese month. Actually astrologers do not exactly go according to the chinese month…

As for the snake and the boar, an astrologer would choose a neutral date. For difficult cases, there are many suggestions like what to do on that day etc.
