Feng Shui Eight Characters
Oh how nice if it is at all possible that we could know when we know when we are going to make it!
If you were to believe in fate, then this wish may not be that difficult to realize. The answer may just be found from the chinese art of Eight Characters astrology or BaZi.
Just like Indian astrology, Eight Characters divination is a study of fate. They both are very useful in helping one to decide when the most propitious time and appropriate course to follow. How nice but most pooh-pooh the idea that one’s fate is determined by oneself. Well, each is entitled to his view.
That block with Chinese characters pasted right at the top depicts the eight characters, Bazi. They are calculated from one’s year, month, day and hour of birth. The characters are easily looked up from a standard almanac if you have one but if you don’t, the links at the bottom shows various tables which can be used to get those eight characters. (Come to think of it, maybe it would be nice and easier to have them summarized on a separate page for convenience. Let’s see….)
The characters most probably won’t mean anything to you but a cursory glance tells that this person is blessed with many friends and benefactors. They like him for whatever reason. If this person is a man he will find that the most fruitful (or eventful period) of his life will occur in his late thirties or forties.
How nice to know when our right time to strike that punch! Seemingly, this is what Eight Characters can do. Some people make moves at the wrong time. Some people miss opportunities because they are afraid to jump. Opportunity knocks but once, they say.
If I do not believe all this mumbo jumbo? Well, who cares but me but in any case there is no loss in highlighting this small information when we jot down the pros and cons in our decision making process.
This book is a translation of a text by FengShui Master Jiang Da Hong (ca1640) with my explanations and comments. The root text is a section on yang dwellings from his book “5 Songs of the Heavenly Principles”.
