Selecting Baby’s Sex with Help from Feng Shui

Maybe it is the precoccupation of the Chinese with male offsprings I do not know but they do have so many techniques for enhancing the law of probability in their favor.

At one time, the Qian Long method was very popular. Yes, the same famous Emperor Qian Long although I would think that whoever came up with the technique attributed it to the great emperor to lend more credibility. Essentially it involved selection of good days to make love.

Another method requires the mother to soak herself in a tub of herbal solution at predetermined auspicious days before the act. By so doing she is promised that the child born will be a son. Do not laugh yet because the method does have some merit. The secret lies in the pH or acidity of the herbal solution. Science the fengshui way!

With so much ado about babies and baby’s gender, who would be surprised that each fengshui tradition will have its own techniques. If you are familiar with the magic square or Loshu numbers, you may encounter the “three whites”. These 3 whites are the so-called good numbers to have around if you wish to conceive. This technique has many adherents among those who have difficulty having children. By itself we would not expect it to work as the pre-requisite is that both parents must be fertile and preferably healthy. So if visits to the gynaecologist confirms that you are fertile, it is worth a go. It beats paying the gynae tons of money to do his trick. It beats paying hard earned money to the fertility clinic (fertility clinics do very well from the plight of the not so fertile if I may say so).

What are the 3 whites? They are the numbers 1, 6 and 8.

How do we use them? Every year, month and day has a flying star chart. When these 3 numbers are located at your front door, your bedroom, head of your bed or at the door of your bedroom, then you are suitably positioned to have a go at making the bay you so desire.

There are qualifiers of course. To have a single number at one location is not enough. You must have as many numbers as possible. That is to say, if you have any of the 3 whites at your door, bedroom, bed or any of the abovementioned places at the same time, that is best. Even better than best (if there is such a thing) is to have the numbers of the day, month and year together as well.

How do I know the location of these 3 whites? To do that you will need a compass. Not to align for the act but to know the directions of North South East West etc of your abode.

For 2010, the direction of the 3 whites are at the center, west, east.

As an example, if your house faces east, then the three whites for this year, 2010, are at the front of your house, the center and the west. The west would be the rear of your house. If it is you both sleep at the rear part of your house, you are sleeping with the 3 whites.

For the months, they are as follows:

5May to 5June                                    center, west, east

6June to 6July                                    northwest, northeast, southwest

7July to 6August                                center, west, south

7August to 7September                    northwest, northeast, north

8September to 7October                 west, south, southwest

8October to 6November                  northeast, north, east

7November to 6December              south, southwest, southeast

7December to 5January (2011)     center, north, east

6January to 3February (2011)     northwest,southwest, southeast

The same method of determining the position of the 3 whites is the same as for the year. You will observe that if you have a bedroom at the east or if your door is at the east, may/june is a great time for making babies since the month and year have the same good auspicious days at the same locations. Hmm..on reflection all times are great times for making love! But since we are into babies which is a life and lifetime affair, we need to get a bit serious.

We have been looking at the method which is time based. Before we round up, there is one more method which we all can try. This one is, word for word translation, based on land luck. In proper language, it is the direction your home faces.

With this technique, the facing direction of your house is important. Traditional homes should have the door facing the same way as the house is orientated. We shall not go into the niceties of determining directions but for this method, we shall just use the orientation proper of the house.

This one is little bit complicated in that it gets a little technical. It gets a little technical but no fear. Let’s start with a  chart…. (Sorry you have to crane your neck left and right to read. It is intentional, seems this is good exercise for the neck.)

FengShui Directions - Twenty Four Mountains

FengShui Directions - Twenty Four Mountains

There are green colored numbers just at the inner ring. These numbers are from 1 to 24. Let’s call them mountain numbers.

The numbers just at the outer edge of the rings are the degrees of the compass. For example, mountain number 6 are between 67.5° and 82.5° which is somewhere along west-southwest.

The secret of the technique lies in knowing where the right place to be. Since we know from the earlier technique, we now have the right time and the right place. What a powerful mix! The right place means the place where you sleep. The Chinese are very coy about such things so we should take it to mean that is the place to have sexual intercouse.

Here is the love areas of the houses that faces the directions given by the 24 mountains:

Direction House Faces                                   Auspicious location

1,5,6,9,16,17,21                                                   11

8,3,10,15,18,20                                                  17

2,12,13,24                                                            23

22                                                                           5

4,7,11                                                                    13

14,19,23                                                               1

Happy BabyMaking! Have a good time but remember the saying, “Parenthood for 100 years, Worry 99”.
