Stand Alone Buildings?

Dear All,

THERE’S A BUG SO THIS PAGE ALWAYS SHOWS. SCROLL BELOW AND CLICK ON “NEXT POST” TO READ RECENT POSTS… well at least until this bug goes away…

We arrived just before midday. These days the heat is getting quite unbearable. And there it was, staring blankly in front of us, sticking its head and broken body into the sky.

It looks quite out of place, sitting uncomfortably close, nudging as it were, its neighbours for space. It must have had its heyday but the once proud building is no more. Glass windows broken, doors smashed and trees growing out of its walls.

It took only a few brief moments to connect and the message was clear.

“Let’s go for tea,” I said, much to the surprise of the others. I really meant it because I was thirsty. It was also necessary to study other factors as well as to allow some time for things to work.

Feng Shui says that if you are choosing a home, never choose a tall stand alone building. This is a well known rule and much everyone knows it. But why so? Feng Shui describes them as isolated. Just like an isolated hillock is not suitable for entombment, so is an isolated building not suitable as a home.

Feng Shui is a science. A careful study of this ancient practice will reveal that is very much based on astronomy, weather conditions, wind effects, movement of the sun, effect of the seasons, the impact of water courses not to mention geographical locations and topography.

Now, a standalone building is like a tall tree in an open landscape. It takes the might of the wind, the searing effect of the sun, the scathing blast of the sand against its bark and more dangerously a natural conduit for that lightning bolt looking for a quick path to the ground.

Feng Shui lore says that living in a standalone building subjects the occupants to loneliness, financial disaster and premature death. What could be worse?

The building which was the purpose of our visit sits very close to the sea. It has a good view of the open sea towards its south. In fact it has a clear unobstructed view of the shoreline as well as the open sea. The river meanders from the northeast carrying its heavy load to the sea.

A feng shui study will take into account many factors. An isolated building may be unsuitable for a home but as a commercial building, it would be another matter. But in this case, I would not recommend it as a good business building. It would not be able to capture the energy forces, leaving it open to attacks of confusion and foul play. Internal as well as external conflicts remain the greatest challenge.

There will be many legal and commercial matters to clear. It can only be taken as a trade that is an opportunity to refurbish and sell at the right time and price.
